The Christian Education Committee is responsible for overseeing and directing all church education programs, Christian growth, camps, conferences, gospel ministry candidates, and CRE programs. The mission of Christian Education is to help people know and experience God through Jesus Christ; claim and live God’s promises; grow and serve as Christian disciples; and help individuals increase their Bible knowledge. Christian Education is led by Kay Emmons, Chair, and Judy Nielsen, Vice Chair.

Junior High- Basecamp

Our junior high group is known as “Basecamp”. This name symbolizes the journey through middle school and the beginnings of the youth program. Basecamp is where we all start and begin to learn about ourselves and God, acquire skills, and set out on our own adventure! Basecamp meets Sunday evenings from 3-5 pm.

High School- The Summit

We really love the idea that in high school we are starting to really climb the mountain of life, and it is our goal to reach the summit. For us this name symbolizes our efforts to reach the pinnacle of who we are in God and who we are with each other. You can’t reach the summit by yourself you have to do it with others. There is also some word play there with our physical location at the top of the Hart building! The Summit meets Sunday nights from 6-8 pm.

Coffee Talk

This fall, we will be starting a new program called Coffee Talk! This is a program designed for us to emulate the time we had together during our  Wednesday lunches this summer but for the school year. Every Friday, the staff will meet at First Pres around 5 pm and then walk with the students they meet up with to a coffee shop near by. This will be a time for students and staff to hang out and have fun but students are also encouraged to bring homework, tough questions about life, really anything to this program. Coffee Talk will start September 15th.

Adult Education

Our mission is to provide for the discipleship of our congregation so that they can live the mission of First Presbyterian Church to the glory Of God. We do this by:
  • growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible study and education on Sunday mornings and Wednesday Nights.
  • deepening our connection with one another through sharing, classes, and fellowship.
  • living what we have learned in our families, at work, at school, and in our service to the world as members of First Pres.
We offer enriching Adult Education classes throughout the year.  The Education Hour is at 10:00 am, immediately following first service worship. If you have any questions, please contact the Church Office.
