SERMON SERIES BEGINS
After journeying across the Atlantic Ocean through the Panama Canal to the Port of Los Angeles, our church’s new Veritas chancel organ is due to arrive by truck the week of January 8!
The Sanctuary will be closed for organ installation January 15, 22 and 29. Sunday morning worship will be moved to Wilson Hall.
A riddle for you: This fall at FPC, what’s new, old, the same and different all at once?
Holy Week opens at the intersection of triumph and foreboding as Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem is recounted with the distribution of palms in both services.
Pastor’s Year-End Summary Report for 2010
Dear Church Family:
At last year’s annual meeting, I verbalized the following leadership goal for 2010:
Six years ago, more than 150 of us participated in a powerful visioning process. We shared memories of our church’s past triumphs and dreams of its future possibilities. Many of those dreams have become a part of our continuing story.
Whenever aspiring journalists asked 60 Minutes creator Don Hewitt the secret of his success, he simply replied: “Tell me a story.”
Our stories go to the heart of our identity: as individuals, families and churches. Our stories can also be a strong clue to God’s unfolding purposes in our lives.
Here’s a fact we all have to come to terms with: There’s a certain amount of trouble in life, and we all get a share. It’s not a matter of God singling us out; it’s a part of being human. “In the world you will have trouble,” said Jesus.
